1. Who decides a refund

LotPay runs payment portals for car dealerships and landlords. Your agreement with the business, such as your retail installment contract, purchase agreement or lease, decides whether a payment can be refunded. Contact the business first. If you can't reach them, contact us and we'll help.

2. Mistakes and payments made twice

If you paid twice, paid on the wrong account or paid the wrong amount, contact the business or LotPay as soon as you can. A payment made twice by mistake is refunded in full, including its online fee.

3. The online fee

When a payment is refunded in full, the online fee you paid with it is refunded too.

4. Down payments and vehicle purchases

Down payments and deposits are covered by your purchase agreement with the dealership. Ask the dealership about its policy.

5. Canceling a payment

Once you confirm a payment, you can't cancel it in the portal. If you made a mistake, contact the business the same day. A payment caught before it settles can often be canceled so it never posts to your card.

6. How refunds reach you

Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Most show up within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank. If you don't see a refund after 10 business days, contact us with the date and amount of the payment.

7. Charges you don't recognize

If you don't recognize a charge, contact us or the business first so it can be fixed quickly. You can still dispute a charge with your card issuer.
